Theodor Burr's classic timber framed bridge design of 1817 was constructed in the USA. A series of analytical geometrical drawings show the evolution of the bridge's form from a sector of a circle's circumference drawn to span a river. The geometrical design is superimposed over a drawing of the bridge to demonstrate its viability.
