TITLE The Open Air Class at the Gardens on Spring Creek
FORMAT A4 297 x 210 mm / 42 pages / full colour
CONTENT The Open Air Class at the Gardens on Spring Creek project was run by the Timber Framers Guild of America at the Frameworks Timber workshop in Fort Collins, Colorado, owned by carpenter Adrian Jones. The timber for the project was supplied free by Fort Collins City Council who were felling Lodgepole Pine killed by beetle attack to halt the infection. The geometrical design, initially drawn by compass, was transferred manually onto the shop floor at full scale but was also redrawn into Autocad on computer to generate precise dimensions for the timbers. Trusses were cut using both methods and were brought together in the test assembly of the frame in Old Town Square in the city centre before reassembly at the Gardens on Spring Creek.
